The Washburn High School Foundation

The Washburn High School Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization established in 1987 by a group of parents, teachers, alumni, and community members to provide financial and volunteer support to Washburn High School and its students through:

  • Grants directly to teachers for special projects
  • Funding support for curricular and extra-curricular programs and capital needs
  • Scholarships for Washburn High School graduates

2025 is a big year for Washburn and our entire Miller community. Washburn will be 100 years old and we are planning to celebrate! Our plan is to have various events from January 2025 through Homecoming of 2025 with an all school/all class celebration in August of 2025. We will be getting information out as soon as possible on specifics and as we get closer to the time, but keep August 1-3, 2025 open!

Other events will likely include golf, musical performances, history exhibits, school tours, charitable events, various reunions, etc. GO MILLERS!!!

More information about the Washburn High School Foundation:

We are dedicated to sustaining excellence at Washburn High School by cultivating a support network with alumni and the broader community.

We advocate for and actively connect financial and volunteer resources to the School in order to provide enriching experiences and an exceptional public education for its students, preparing them for a successful future.

We celebrate Washburn’s successes and create awareness of its needs and opportunities for growth in academics, the arts, and athletics.

$50,000 in mini-grants are awarded to staff each school year to fund things like field trips, speakers and special curriculum. Crystal Spring, director of Washburn’s Blackbox theater program, will use her mini-grant to hire spoken word artists, choreographers, and actors from the community who can build students’ theatre skills, as well as bring in a multi-cultural perspective to their work. “I am so grateful for all the financial support you have given the Blackbox! It makes a huge impact on us, honestly. We wouldn’t be the same without your support,” said Ms. Spring. Your support deepens the learning experience for Washburn students and helps teacher create a more vibrant and engaging learning experience.

WE NEED YOU!

With today’s current leadership, the Foundation hopes to be able to provide even greater support than before, especially in light of the ever-widening gap between what is needed to achieve and maintain excellence at the school and what public funding is available.

Your support is crucial to the success of the Foundation in its Mission and to the continued support of WHS and its students.  Together we can ensure that Washburn is able to achieve Excellence in Academics, Arts, and Athletics.  Thank you for your contribution, and GO MILLERS!
